I picked up the latest issue of Hi-Fructose the other day after seeing a few images on Audrey Kawasaki’s instagram, and as I perused the magazine, I stumbled on an ad by Tara McPherson for The Cotton Candy Machine of a blue haired girl riding on a polar bear, a piece called Dancing through the Snow. I’m waiting patiently for this to be available for purchase.

Tara is an artist based out of NYC. She’s California born and raised. Received her BFA in 2001 with honors in Illustration and a minor in Fine Art. She has had countless exhibits and features in magazines like Esquire, Vanity Fair, Playboy, Sony Magazine, Bust, Magnet, Elle and many more. She also worked on Matt Groening’s “Futurama” while interning during college. Awesome! She currently has a solo exhibit at Jonathan LeVine Gallery until Nov 16th.
I stumbled upon another polar bear themed piece while on her website called Searching for Penguins that’s darling and you can buy this piece as a lithograph or on a cushion via her store.
Tara’s style is so unique, and I do hope I’ll see more of her polar bears in the future!
